Boost iPhone Signal Reception with an Amplifier
Using the iPhone’s Field Test Mode allows you to easily find out which frequency your cell phone is using to access your cell phone carrier (usually AT&T). The instructions differ depending on whether your iPhone is using the 3G or non-3G network.
If your phone shows a 3G icon in the top left of the screen:

- Dial *3001#12345#* on the keypad and press call.
- Select “UMTS Cell Environment”
- Select “UMTS RR Info
- If the uplink frequency is a number between 4132 and 4233, your phone is using the 800/850MHz Band. If the uplink frequency is a number between 9262 and 9538, your phone is using the 1900MHz band.

If your phone shows no 3G icon in the top left of the screen:

- Dial *3001#12345#* on the keypad and press call.
- Select “GSM Cell Environment”
- Select “UMTS Network Information
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and find the ARFCN
- If your ARFCN is between 128 and 251, then your phone is using the 800/850MHz band. If your ARFCN is between 512 and 810, then your phone is using the 1900MHz band.

Wasim,
Depending on the frequency your iPhone is using, which you can find out above, follow one of these links: 800/850MHz Repeater Kits or 1900MHz Repeater Kits.
If you want to be assured that the booster will work regardless of the phone or network you have you can get a Dual Band repeater. These support all US networks other than nextel for any phone or wireless data card you are using. Find these here: Dual Band Repeater Kits.

My iPhone 3GS shows UPLINK FREQUENCY 62. What does that mean? I have a YX500-PCS and a YX500-CEL. The Signal Light does not flash at all when making a call with either YX unit. The YX500-PCS works well with the iPhone in EDGE mode. I just purchased the YX500-CEL. Do you have any suggestions? My iPhone works well in the attic in 3G mode where the remote repeater antenna is installed. Thanks.

Try checking the uplink frequency up in the attic where you have 3G signal working, and see if you get the same number. A channel number of 67 doesn’t make very much sense (it’s not a 3G channel at all), perhaps it’ll change once you’re up in the attic and it’s connecting to the 3G signal properly.
