Product Overview

How it works:

The CradlePoint MBR1000 uses the data signal from your 3G enabled phone or data card and creates a wireless WiFi hotspot. Simply connect your 3G enabled device to the CradlePoint and you have an instant, secure WiFi hotspot. The CradlePoint MBR-1000 includes 2 USB modem ports and 1 ExpressCard port. The CradlePoint also accepts a standard RJ-45 Ethernet cable, so it can create a WiFi zone using your home internet connection, or using Ethernet cables available at work or in hotels.

Continuous connectivity:

The MBR-1000 accepts internet signal from 2 USB ports, 1 ExpressPort and an Ethernet WAN port. When multiple inputs are detected the CradlePoint will automatically switch if one fails, creating a 'non-stop' data connection ideal for small/ medium businesses.

As well as connecting to the WiFi network, you can also connect via cable using one of the 4 Ethernet LAN ports on the back of the router.

Range and speed:

The CradlePoint MBR-1000 features Wireless-N technology, which has 4x the range and 10x the speed of traditional routers. It also features multiple signal antennas, which work together to reduce dead-spots and interference, creating the strongest possible WiFi network.

Kit / Compatibility

Repeater Kits

You can improve the reception of your 3G data network using one of our cellular repeater kits. The repeater kit will improve data signal, increasing the internet speed if your CradlePoint WiFi hotspot.

Direct connect kits

The best direct connect kit is the Wilson 811201. This kit requires a special adapter cable, to plug directly into your phone or data card. This option provides the best coverage improvement, but is not compatible with all models.

A great option to cover both phones and data cards is the Wilson SignalBoost. This comes with a Velcro patch antenna which can connect to all modes of phones and data cards. It has the advantage of being able to by swapped quickly between phones or data cards.

Wireless kits

You an also use any of the wireless kits on our site to improve the performance of the CradlePoint router. More powerful wireless repeaters will increase the 3G speed, and place your repeater and router apart. The coverage area of the WiFi zone is dependant on the CradlePoint router, not the cellular repeater.

1- The user experience with devices running Windows Mobile is less robust than other phones and modems. Windows Mobile devices connected to either a PC or a CradlePoint router have exhibited erratic behavior while using data sharing capabilities. Issues include frequent disconnects for no apparent reason and remedies entail frequent rebooting the phone and or removing the phone's battery. This problem is not something that can be resolved by CradlePoint Technology and will need to be addressed by the phone manufacturer.
