Yagi cell phone antennas are high gain, sensitive antennas that can pick up weaker signals than other types of antennas. A Yagi antenna is thus useful in situations where the cell phone signal is weak outside your building and a smaller antenna is not sufficient. For example, your nearest cell tower may be obscured by other buildings, or if you live in a rural area you may be quite far from the nearest cell tower. Alternatively, you may want to use a Yagi cell phone antenna in order to get the most out of your amplifier system. For this purpose Yagi antennas are suitable because in terms of performance there are no better antennas. This antenna picks up signals within the range 1850-1990 Mhz so is suitable for use with 1900 Mhz cell phone repeaters or, of course, dual band cell phone repeaters.

This antenna is designed for a fixed installation in, for example, a home or office building setting. The Yagi antenna comes with mounting hardware included, but a pole is required to mount the antenna on. The Yagi Antenna is directional so for best performance should be set up facing towards the nearest cell phone tower. The best way to do this is to set up the yagi antenna with the rest of the cell phone antenna system and try pointing it in a few different directions for a few minutes in each. Whichever results in the best cell phone reception within your building is likely to be where the nearest cell tower is. By a process of trial and error you can get the antenna to point closer and closer to directly at the cell tower.
