Product Description

The updated SureCall Flare 3.0 is a plug-and-play booster system designed for small spaces far away from cell towers. The Flare 3.0 boosts voice and data, including 4G LTE, on all North American cell networks.

The SureCall Flare system integrates the signal amplifier and the indoor antenna into one indoor unit. This makes setup very straightforward. The small, attractively designed unit is designed to sit freestanding on a table or shelf.

The Flare 3.0 comes with a yagi directional outdoor antenna. The SC-231W antenna offers up to 10 dBi of gain and is very good at picking up weak signal in one direction. This powerful antenna means that the Flare 3.0 is ideally suited to bringing power to remote homes and cabins. If you need signal in a very rural area, and are far from the nearest cell tower, the Flare 3.0 may be the solution you need.

The Flare 3.0 also features significantly improved uplink power. Uplink power has been increased by an average of 9 dB on some frequencies.

Why is strong uplink power important?

Uplink power is the signal that leaves your smartphone or other device, and is sent to the cell tower. Some cell networks, particularly in rural areas that rely on 3G, use different frequencies for the uplink and downlink (the signal coming from the cell tower). Without strong uplink power, calls are disrupted or dropped entirely.

The gain of the system influences how much indoor coverage area can be provided. A higher gain means larger boosted coverage. Depending on outdoor signal strength, the Flare can boost signal from up to a maximum of 3,000 sq ft with strong existing signal, or down to just a small room if the donor cell signal is extremely weak.

Do I need the Flare 1.0 or the Flare 3.0?

The original SureCall Flare is a great small booster unit. It was the first booster unit to combine amplifier and indoor antenna, and our customers tell us that they find it simple to set up and effective for small spaces.

The new Flare 3.0 makes significant improvements which some users will find really important to their needs. If you’re in a rural area, or just a location that’s far away from the cell tower you need, the increased power from the Flare 3.0’s yagi antenna is likely to be vital to you. The Flare 1.0 has a omnidirectional antenna which is a good choice if you need to boost multiple networks and signal on all of them is reasonably strong. However, if you need a lot of power on one network, you’ll want the Flare 3.0.

Flare or EZ-4G?

If you're looking to cover a small apartment or just 1-2 rooms in your home or office, SureCall offers several “Easy Install” options. In addition to the Flare 1.0 and Flare 3.0, there is also the SureCall EZ-4G.

The EZ-4G does not use an outdoor antenna. It has only one cable and a combined exterior antenna and amplifier unit. The EZ-4G is ideal for anyone who doesn’t have access to their attic or roof. The “plug and play” design means it is also very easy to install, with a simple window set-up and no outside cabling. If you are a renter or cannot mount a yagi antenna outside, you may want to try the EZ-4G.

On the other hand, the Flare 3.0 uses an outdoor directional antenna and cabling, but combines the indoor antenna and amplifier unit. This makes it great for situations where you have a weak existing outside signal. If signal outside is very weak, the EZ-4G will not be able to capture enough donor signal to boost and cover a large area inside.

How it works

1 - Outdoor antenna

The outdoor antenna receives and transmits signal to nearby cellphone towers. Outdoor antennas can be either directional or omni-directional.

2 - Cellular amplifier

The amplifier (or "repeater") boosts the signal coming to and from and going to the cell phone tower. The "gain" of the amplifier describes how strong the amplification is - you'll see that word scattered across our product pages.

3 - Indoor antenna

The indoor antenna rebroadcasts the signal inside the building. Some kits have more than one indoor antenna to help distribute the signal.
